Comedian Sarah Silverman is out to unify the nation with laughter on her new weekly Hulu series, I Love You, America, premiering Thursday, October 12th. In an attempt to connect with un-like-minded people, Silverman will travel the country and converse with those who oppose her politics and views – all in the name of comedy.
This isn’t going to be “gotcha comedy” though, as Silverman explained to IGN. “It’s not ‘We’re smart and they’re dumb and look how we edited it because we’re right and they’re wrong’,” she explained, back at the summer TCA press tour. “I just don’t think that changes minds. I mean, there are shows like that which are appointment television for me because they’re brilliant because I think it helps shape young minds. And it informs people. But that’s just not what this is. Hopefully the comedy isn’t going to be at the expense of people who have a different ideology than me.”
