Having done drug enforcement over two decades, anyone who believes Justin Trudeau when he says “legalization is the best way to keep this dangerous drug away from our kids” is living in fantasy land. There will still be a flourishing black market, as there is in Colorado and Washington states. By allowing anyone over 19 to grow their own pot supplies, children in such residences will have easy access, plus be exposed to dangerous contaminants emitted from the pot plants. In Colorado, young kids are flooding ERs after getting into their parents’ pot supplies, especially edibles containing high concentrations of THC. We can expect the same here. Sunny Days are not ahead for Canadian kids!
(If government taxes are too high on pot they’ll create the same black market they did for cigarettes by pushing tobacco taxes too high)
Kathleen Wynne is doing a great job of buying people’s votes for the coming election in June. With tuitions being free for students, meds being free for youth under 25, and minimum wages being drastically increased, appeasing mostly young part-timers, it’s not hard to see that she is trying to reel in the new voters who have just turned of legal age to vote. Never have I seen someone so desperate to maintain power as much as this sorry excuse for a premier. She must know that she has done a pathetic job in her leadership of this province, especially given her approval ratings, having dropped to 20%. Everything that she has promised to the young voters and to the die-hards — unions, teachers or whomever it is that still support her — is nothing more than accumulating debt that will be put on the wallets of those same young people she is trying to buy. These people who are benefiting from her “generosity” must see through this smoke screen and realize that it is they who will be paying for all these promises that this premier will no longer care about if she loses this election. And she must. This province isn’t going broke — it IS broke, thanks to our Liberals. The next party will have a difficult time saving this sinking ship. Everyone must realize that even though you may be gaining from one of her promises, you do not owe her anything, especially your vote.
(No politician is “owed” a vote in a democracy. They have to earn it)
Tim Hortons has shown itself to be the Canadian equivalent of a sweatshop.
(That’s what Premier Wynne would like you to believe. We don’t)
EAT AT TIMS!
As somebody who is precariously employed and making minimum wage, I too am concerned about the minimum wage rising. I am no better off. I am working less hours yet making the same amount of money. Kathleen Wynne wrongly assumed employees’ hours would stay the same or rise, and that’s just not the case. However, protesting in front of Tim Hortons or other businesses will do no good either. While I believe protesters have good intentions, it will simply deter customers from going inside the business and in turn will give these locations even more reason to cut employees’ hours or positions altogether. The best thing people can do is to frequent these businesses more often and support front-line employees!
(Nah, too logical)
