PARTY IS OVER
For the love of God and all things holy, please, Mr. Ford, do not give the Liberals official party status out of some form of being kind. These people (Liberals) have done nothing but destroy and pillage our once great province, and in kind the electorate have spoken. By their own rules they are not entitled. Their party coffers are in shambles. We do not need to give them any more of our tax dollars. Let them eat cake … and choke on it.
(See today’s editorial, we are quite sure he won’t give it to them)
LIBERALS GOT WHAT THEY DESERVED
The good news is that the Liberal party got what they deserved in this election because the electorate finally decided that they were too incompetent to govern. The bad news is that there are still many Liberal-appointed bureaucrats infesting the various government offices and they will likely try to disrupt any new initiatives to bring fiscal sense and accountability to this once great province. Hopefully it will not take long to weed out these Liberal appointees and send them packing to join their MPP friends in the unemployment line.
(Ford and his government have a giant task ahead of them)
I am very worried to have a Conservative majority government, especially since Ford has been a diehard fan of leaders like Trump, a regime which doesn’t like anyone who happens to look, speak or worship differently. However, a political party that has taken things for granted for so long needs a strong electric shock to wake them up so that they can do check and balance. It is good for them in the long run, as it helps to restore the human touch that usually goes missing when you know nothing but power and become arrogant as a result of it. I really hope other politicians will take heed to what happened to their provincial counterparts. As the federal Conservatives got the massive electric shock during the last election when Mr. Harper was acting belligerent, the Ontario Liberals also tasted the same fate, which will take them some time to recover from. That is why a change is necessary. It helps to cure politicians from the disease of arrogance. It brings them back to earth as normal beings at a time when they thought their heads could reach the sky. In giving the Liberals a high voltage electric shockwave, other politicians will start to respect us more as we mean business.
(You’re correct, change is always necessary, and Ontarians certainly voted for it)
Whoever wrote the head for Tom Parkin’s column got it all wrong (“Progressive Ontarians rejected cynical politics and it must not come back,” June 11). It should have read: Progressive Ontarians rejected cynical regressive politics and elected a Progressive Conservative government.” The left is trying to hijack the word “progressive” — you should not be encouraging it. The word progressive is already taken — it’s the Progressive Conservative Party. They are the regressive parties. Parkin represents cynical regressive politics.
(And Ontario soundly rejected them)
