A nurse who allegedly performed illegal cosmetic procedures in her home has been charged after a 23-year-old client died.
York Regional Police say officers were called to a hospital on April 18, 2017 about a woman in life-threatening condition who had received cosmetic non-surgical procedures in a private home in Vaughan.
The woman died of her injuries.
Investigators say the 40-year-old accused is a registered nurse who is employed elsewhere but had been operating an unregulated medical office out of her own home for several years. The woman offered discounted cosmetic nonsurgical procedures to clients found through word of mouth, police said Thursday.
Police allege she was injecting people with unregulated substances “not intended for that purpose.”
During the course of the investigation, officers learned of other alleged victims who suffered various health issues after receiving treatments from the accused.
Anna Yakubovsky-Rositsan was arrested June 4 and charged with criminal negligence causing death, failure to provide the necessaries of life, failure to provide to person under charge, and four counts of aggravated assault.
Anyone who received treatments or who has information is asked to call police at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7865.
Yakubovsky-Rositsan was scheduled to appear in Newmarket court on Thursday.
