Police have a suspect in custody after an elderly woman was killed.
Emergency crews turned up to the scene of Toronto’s 70th homicide of the year just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday in a residence on Cornwall St. in Regent Park where they found an elderly female suffering from what police described as obvious signs of trauma.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers took a suspect into custody in connection with the death, and the homicide squad was called to investigate.
Initially deemed suspicious, the death was later classified as a homicide.
Police had not identified the victim or suspect and there was no word charges.
