Man arrested after 82-year-old killed in parking garage hit-run

Toronto Police say a man has been arrested after a senior was struck by a vehicle that then fled an underground parking garage in North York over the weekend.

First responders were called to the garage at 50 Graydon Hall Dr. just before 5 p.m. Saturday after an 82-year-old man was hit and killed by a vehicle.

The vehicle left the scene.

On Tuesday, police arrested Paul Veenhop, 54, of Toronto, and seized a vehicle. Veenhop is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Both the victim and accused lived in an apartment building attached to the garage.

The victim’s name has not been released.
