Public asked to comment on provincial spending

The province wants to hear from the public about the government’s spending on services and programs.

An online consulation — Planning for Prosperity — will run from Aug. 29-Sept. 21 and be part of the government’s line-by-line review of spending.

“It’s important that Ontarians have direct say in how the government can improve the effectiveness and efficiencies of  provincial programs and services while avoiding job cuts,” said Treasury Board President Peter Bethlenfalvy.

“We will continue listening to the people of Ontario about what matters to most to them, and we will use what we hear to ensure our vital public services are affordable and sustainable, both now and in the years to come.”

Ontarians will be able to rank the importance and effectiveness of government services, as well as offer ideas to transform the services.

“These consultations and the line-by-line review will help us improve public services so that Ontarians have confidence that their money is being spent with prudence and care,” Bethlenfalvy said.
