Friends shocked by deadly stabbing of artist near Allan Gardens

A 35-year-old man found slain in a home near Allan Gardens is remembered by those who knew and loved him as a “beacon” in the city’s art scene.

Jeffery Parker, also known as Jay Tripper — a graphic designer and involved in the city’s electronic music community — was fatally stabbed in a house on George St., just south of Gerrard St. E., on Thursday afternoon.

Toronto Police say the killing — the city’s 92nd murder of the year — began with an altercation between Parker and another man who was known to him.

A man located soon after at a nearby Harvey’s restaurant, where he had collapsed from serious injuries, was taken into custody.

Tyler Reynolds, 22, of Toronto is charged with second-degree murder and is expected to appear in court Thursday.

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help Parker’s partner — identified as Kevin — move because it is too emotionally difficult for him to stay in the house where the murder occurred.

The money raised will also cover the cost of storing Parker’s belongings and artwork, the GoFundMe page states.

“Jay made some wonderful art, let us preserve it,” the site said.

One GoFundMe post praised Parker as a “super talented artist.”

“And now you’re gone. I still can’t believe it,” Jonah Brotman wrote. “May your memory be a blessing and all the art you brought into this world inspire others.”
