CANADIANS SHOULD SEND A MESSAGE TO GM
So GM is going to pack up and move production elsewhere. The only thing our various levels of government can do is offer tax breaks, incentives or credits to try to persuade them to stay. My guess is they would take whatever packages are offered and eventually move, leaving the taxpayer holding the bag. If you want GM and its shareholders to get the message loud and clear of how Oshawa/Ontario/Canada feels about their move, the solution is straight forward. Unifor needs to put together a petition. Every Canadian should sign this petition with the following message: The day you stop manufacturing vehicles in Oshawa or elsewhere in Canada is the day I will no longer purchase any product made by GM, this includes cars/trucks replacement parts or any product produced by GM or a subsidiary. The message is loud and clear, if you want to produce your product elsewhere, sell it there. The only message GM or its shareholders understand is the bottom line. Will the above approach have consequences, yes, but nothing compared to the job losses or impact on our communities if GM employees and the thousands of downstream jobs are lost. Another way to look at it: Thousands of people without a job will no longer be able to buy a GM vehicle.
(Everyone has the right to vote with the wallets.)
When will our governments stop handing out corporate welfare to companies whose CEO is worth billions and $50-plus million is pocket change, taking this money from taxpayers on the premise of creating new jobs! Wake up you politicians and quit being manipulated by these uber-rich sociopaths who have nothing other than the bottom line of the company in their interest. A lot of good-paying jobs are being eliminated elsewhere. When will the phony, lying politicians stop ripping the people off for the wealthy 1%ers.

WHERE’S THE FEDS?
Good evening, this is your captain speaking. First, I would like to thank you all for flying Trudeau Airlines. Your seats might be tight and uncomfortable, cabin hot, crew surly. But make no mistake – this is nothing compared to the turbulence ahead. Plant closings like GM in Oshawa will multiply, the economy of Alberta and Saskatchewan will be on life support as multinational capital is invested elsewhere. Without that investment, jobs, royalties will disappear, along with the ability to fund nearly everything. But take heart, we will continue to spend billions, with no chance in hell of ever balancing the budget, never mind paying off the debt. Hey, you elected me to fly this plane, knowing full well of my lack of qualifications. Sunny ways, fasten your seatbelts, and please fly Trudeau Airlines next year.
(Our PM has made deficits a virtue.)
