Tractor trailer rollover on 401 closes all westbound lanes near airport

Several tractor trailers in the GTA were involved in separate crashes Friday.

Expect traffic headaches Friday morning as all westbound lanes on Hwy. 401 have been closed near Pearson International Airport after a tractor trailer rollover.

The truck rolled over just past Hwy. 427 around 1:30 a.m. and apparently burst into flames.

A male driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“We’re still trying to determine why this collision happened, there may have been another vehicle indirectly involved,” said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

The truck was transporting some kind of paper product.

Closures are expected until around 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, one person remains in life-threatening condition after three tractor trailers collided in Brampton.

It took place at the intersection of Cottrelle Blvd. and Hwy. 50 around 6 a.m.

Three people were taken to local hospitals — two of them suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to media reports, one of the vehicles was attempting make a left turn. The driver from the gravel truck was thrown out of their vehicle from the force of the impact.

Hwy. 50 remains closed from Bellchase Trail to Ebenezer Rd., as well as Cottrelle Blvd. from Huntington Rd. to Clarkway Dr.

The eastbound lanes at Hwy. 7 and Weston Rd. in Vaughan were shut down from another collision involving a tractor trailer, York Regional Police tweeted.
